Use and Care of your Wood Bowl
Wood bowls have been used for centuries. Many families have cherished wood bowls that have been handed down through the generations. Stories have even been told of family squabbles over who will get the bowl next! To preserve your wood bowl for future generations we suggest the following guidelines.
Use
All of our wood bowls are food safe. Wood bowls are best used for salads, bread, snacks, chips, candy, dishes and more as long as it isn't something hot. (Hot foods may cause discoloring of the wood. Always use wood, bamboo or plastic utensils for serving out of your bowl. Cleaning Instructions Rinse the bowl with warm water. Put a small amount of liquid soap in your bowl or on a dish rag and gently wash the bowl. Rinse with warm water. Towel dry and put away. Care Instructions Oil finish bowls will require salad bowl finish to be applied to them periodically so they don't dry out. The frequency will depend upon your usage of the bowl. Salad bowl finish can be found at your local home repair/hardware store. We recommend Howard’s – Butcher Block Conditioner. Polyurethane bowls will retain their finish for the life of the bowl if they are not scratched by using metal or hard utensils in them. |
Please do not...
And lastly... Please do not put your beautiful wood bowl away in a cupboard or on a shelf where you cannot enjoy or use it. These wood bowls are all made with tender loving care and if taken care of with that kind of love they will last a lifetime and be cherished by all that have the opportunity to use them. |
